The Spatial Industries Business Association (SIBA) has appointed West Australian businessman, Paul Farrell, as its Board Chairman for 2009/10.
Paul has over 18 years experience in the GIS and IT industry, having worked both overseas and in Australia. In 2002, Paul was a winner of the WA Business News 40 under 40 awards, recognising the top 40 young business leaders in WA across all sectors. Paul is currently Managing Director of NGIS Australia and a Director of NGIS China and iintegrate Systems.
“The past decade has been one of strong growth for our industry and I look forward to working with CRCSI, ANZLIC, SSSI and other key groups to take Australian spatial services and technology to a leadership position on a regional and global stage,” said SIBA Chairman, Paul Farrell.
Joining Paul on the Executive is Alan Smart who takes on the role of SIBA’s Vice Chairman. Alan is the Marketing Director and Principal Consultant working in the Canberra office of leading economics consultancy, ACIL Tasman.
Alan consults in the energy, water and infrastructure sectors. He has also undertaken projects in evaluation and prioritisation of research and development, and in economics and strategy in defence procurement, agriculture, geoscience and spatial information systems.
Ed Garvin, Managing Director Omnilink, continues in his role as Treasurer on the Executive Board.
