Role

The role of the Spatial Data Policy Executive (SDPE) is to:

  1. Report annually to the responsible Minister on implementation of the Policy on Spatial Data Access and Pricing, including:
      • changes to the Data Schedule in the period,
      • changes to access and pricing arrangements in the period,
      • the cost of data management in the period, and
      • for each dataset on the Schedule, and against the categories intra-Commonwealth, Commonwealth-State, Commonwealth-other transfers:
        • revenue
        • units
        • uses, benefits and value.
  1. Review and evaluate the efficacy of:
      • the Data Schedule,
      • the access and pricing arrangements,
      • the arrangements for custodianship and sponsorship,
      • the annual workplan, and
      • the coordination arrangements.
  1. The Chair of the SDPE represents the Australian Government on ANZLIC—the Spatial Information Council  and the SDPE provides high-level input to the determination of the Australian Government's position in that forum.

Membership

Membership of the SDPE generally comprises representatives at the portfolio Deputy-Secretary/agency CEO level. A broad range of interests are represented on this group, including agencies that produce spatial data, agencies that use spatial data and agencies with a special interest in ensuring that the government achieves maximum economic and social benefits from its investment in spatial data. OSDM provides the SDPE with support services.
